The tenor Giuseppe Varano has a squillo whose beauty is  almost breathtaking;  the texture of the voice reminded me a bit the young Carlo Bergonzi. He also has a full safety and fullness of the high tones,  which allows him to keep the dreaded B-flat of "America forever" almost endless.

S. Mauß, Das Opernglas - Ottobre 2010

..."The Italian tenor Giuseppe Varano sang the role of Pinkerton with a shining voice"...

Sven-Olof Ray, Österbottens Tidning, 7.7.2010

..."Giuseppe Varano has an Italian, sparkling and strong substance and power, which carries even through the thickest thunder of the orchestra. Varano also feels and lives through every single change of incidents and lines, which electrifies the opera"...

..."Madama Butterfly returned to the Olavinlinna Castle more sparkling than last year. The two main soloists, Butterfly - Inna Los - and her lover Pinkerton, Giuseppe Varano, left nothing to wish for."...

Riitta-Leena Lempinen-Vesa, Itä-Savo, 7.7.2010

..."The Opera Festival Orchestra took all nuances out of Puccini's music. Thanks for the emotional evening go without doubt to Massimo Zanetti, who led the dialogue between the orchestra and the soloists skillfully"...

Janne Mäkinen, Keskisuomalainen, 14.7.2010
